🐅 Bagh Chal: The Tactical Jungle
Bagh Chal is an asymmetric hunting game originating in the mountainous regions of Nepal. The board resembles a grid where diagonal lines cross squares, creating 25 intersection points.
It represents the age-old struggle between wild predators and community herds. Four tigers start at the corners and hunt goats. The 20 goats are placed onto the board one by one and try to surround and block the tigers. It is considered an excellent exercise in spatial planning and strategic foresight.
🎲 Langur Burja: Festival Spirit
Usually played outdoors during the autumn festivals of Dashain and Tihar, Langur Burja is a source of community bonding and lighthearted fun.
The game is known internationally as Jhandi Munda or Crown and Anchor. Players bet on six different symbols printed on a sheet, and six dice carrying matching symbols are rolled. The excitement of the crowd gathers as the host rolls the dice out of a wooden or metal cup.
