Langur Burja (also known as Jhandi Munda in India and Crown & Anchor in western cultures) is a traditional dice game widely played in Nepal during major festivals such as Dashain and Tihar.
The game is played with six six-sided dice, each bearing unique symbols: a flag (Jhanda), a crown (Burja), a diamond (Itta), a heart (Pan), a spade (Hukum), and a club (Chidi). Players place virtual coins on the symbols they believe will appear. Payouts are asymmetric, scaling with the number of times the chosen symbol is rolled!
Understanding Payouts
Langur Burja is a game of probability. Since 6 dice are rolled simultaneously, the chances of multiple dice showing the same symbol fluctuate:
- 1 Match: Returns your bet + pays out 1x (Double your stake back).
- 2 Matches: Returns your bet + pays out 2x (Triple your stake back).
- 3 Matches: Returns your bet + pays out 3x (Quadruple your stake back).
- 4+ Matches: Returns your bet + pays out 4x or more!
- 0 Matches: The bet goes to the host (banker).
